The Food Production Unit consists of a modern, fully equipped kitchen facility on the Imam Sadr Foundation campus. This unit provides hot meals to over three hundred students and staff daily, but also houses three separate income generating projects.
The Milk Factory
The milk factory purchases surplus milk from local farmers and uses it to manufacture a range of products such as milk, yogurt, and butter. Vocational students are also trained in the production of dairy goods at the facility. The factory provides around 70% of its products to the schools at the Foundation, allowing the children to consume natural products instead of powdered milk. The remainder of the factory’s milk products are sold to staff and families associated with the school.
Catering
The Food Production Unit is available to cater large events such as banquets, weddings and holiday gatherings. The catering business also provides an excellent learning environment for many of the vocational training students at the Foundation.
Patisserie
Vocational training students also have the opportunity to learn the art of making pastries and sweets at the Foundation’s patisserie. Products are sold throughout Tyre at various locations.
